The research group Analysis of Educational Organizations represents one of the research lines of a larger group -the IDEA! group, officially recognized by the Andalusian Research Plan (Code HUM-423). The group is based in the Department of Didactics and Educational Organization, Faculty of Education Sciences, University of Seville.

Our group is interested in the relationship between some relevant educational processes that take place in educational organizations (innovation processes, leadership, counseling, center-based training, etc.) and the institutional aspects surrounding the aforementioned processes. In recent years we have worked continuously on educational leadership under different modalities.

More specifically, the group is currently developing a project on the training of school principals: Training of directors of primary, secondary and higher education institutions based on the analysis of practice and coaching. This project is co-directed by Marita Sánchez-Moreno and Julián López-Yáñez and is funded by the National Plan for Research, Development and Innovation (R+D+i) (2015-2017). A precedent of this project, within the same theme, has been Professional Learning through Feedback and Reflection, funded within the Comenius Multilateral Projects program of the European Commission.

Prior to these projects the group has investigated the patterns and modalities of leadership distribution in schools in another project, also funded by the National Plan for Research, Development and Innovation (R+D+i) from 2012 to 2014. This project also had an antecedent in another one financed by the National Plan of R+D+i, titled: Leadership and sustainable development in educational organizations (2005-2008). Through these two projects the group has obtained relevant results and conclusions about the way in which leadership is configured, and its relationship with improvement processes in educational organizations.
