FORCE Research Group (Teacher training focused on the school) (HUM-0386) is recognized and funded by the General Direction of Universities of Andalusia. It established in 1990, nowadays it is coodinated by Dr. María José León Guerrero and the Group works and researches on organizational, curricular and professional development. The Group has carried out more than thirty research projects, funded by competitive calls, has organized scientific meetings and congresses, tutored numerous doctoral theses, and published numerous research papers, all focused on the following lines of work: a) University didactics b) Teacher training and professional development, c) Educational leadership and school improvement, d) Inclusive education, and e) Information and communication technologies in education.
FORCE directs and publishes the magazine “Profesorado. Revista de Currículum y Formación de Profesorado”. Also, FORCE leads, with Dr. Manuel Fernández Cruz, a consortium of five Universities (University of Granada, Akershus University College, University of Porto, University Reims Champagne-Ardenne, University Rovira i Virgili), responsible for developing the Erasmus Mundus Master: “Education of Professionals in Education” (Mundusfor). The Erasmus Mundus, recognized and funded by the European Union, is a program of cooperation and mobility in the field of Higher Education institutions that promotes the EU as a center of excellence in learning worldwide. The Group coordinates, with the Dra., The Doctorate Program “Fundamentals of Curriculum and Teacher Training in the areas of Primary and Secondary Education”. The program has obtained the “Quality Mention” by the National Quality Assessment Agency. Likewise, the Group coordinates, with Dr. Jesús Domingo Segovia, the Master of Education.
FORCE is currently working from the perspective of pedagogical leadership and for learning. The R+D+i project entitled Pedagogical Leadership and Development of the Center as a Professional Community: Successful Practices in Compulsory Education (EDU2013-48432-P). This is an investigation that delves into another recently concluded study, called Leadership focused on learning and its impact on improvement: Practices and results in Secondary (EDU2010-16131). Other works of this group have been: The crisis of the identity of the teaching staff of Secondary: Its reconstruction in times of change (BSO2001-3081); Students at risk of educational exclusion in ESO: Situation, programs and good practices in the autonomous community of Andalucia (B / 017948/08). Funded by Autonomous Community of Andalusia, FORCE has carried out the projects: “Professional knowledge and professional competence of the university professor on teaching and learning in environments of advanced technology of information and communication” (HUM346); and, “Articulation of public policies in specific vocational Training through the design of competencies” (EJ 1174).
