This research project aims to analyze the general trends of the school management exercise in a territorial area (Territorial Teaching Services in Tarragona) in relation to the competence and professional profile of the directors in exercise; the tasks and functions that really develop; the satisfaction in relation to his position and his needs for an optimal leadership. At the same time, these trends are contrasted with the current regulations and with the international theoretical recommendations on educational leadership, in order to identify the school improvement models that the management teams develop in the centers under the current conditions. Finally, facilitating measures are proposed both for their initial and permanent training, as well as for their supervision and development
